Applied Learning Programme (ALP)
Farrer Park Primary School’s Applied Learning Programme (ALP) on Environmental Sustainability provides students with hands-on, real world learning opportunities to learn about nature and sustainability efforts in Singapore.
Our ALP aims to instil in students a curiosity, care, and love for nature. Through the programme, students gain an understanding of the impact of human actions on the environment, and develop the positive attitudes and behaviours needed to protect it. Equipped with this foundation, they are then given opportunities to learn practical skills and contribute meaningfully to Singapore's sustainability efforts. The programme also hones students' 21st century competencies through collaborative, hands-on activities and engagement with technology.
To achieve our desired outcomes, the ALP adopts the 4Cs approach: Campus, Curriculum, Culture, and Community.

For all students from Primary 1 to 6, progressive activities are organised around 3 interlinked strands:
Preserve and appreciate nature and its biodiversity
Conserve natural resources through Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Observe clean energy practices
Additional opportunities will be provided to students in Environmental Club CCA and High Ability Learners in Science to work with specialists in related fields and participate in community advocacy efforts on environmental sustainability.
